Synopsis
IDENTITY 2.0
The performance TOXIC GREEN continues and develops the research begun with the site-specific study for urban spaces FROM GARBAGE TO STARS, winner of the Greening Arts call promoted by the network Intersezioni del Friuli-Venezia Giulia, with the support of Arearea dance company and the company RE49, which we will present below as a spin-off of the work. Three bodies inhabit a raft in the void: an archetypal ark that floats on a toxic world, where we cannot tell whether the waste is men, things or the environment: a dimension where rubbish has become home and permeates minds and relationships. We wonder what happens when a piece of waste cannot be recycled or when a human being cannot be reformed. What world can we imagine when change seems made impossible by accumulation, abandonment, and the condemnation to repeat oneself and one’s mistakes? And so we find ourselves at the gates of a Dantean hell, where man embodies the “fair” that prevents him from progressing, “impedimentum” to be overcome in order to undertake that descent into hell that will take us “to see the stars again”. The dance, between performative action and abstraction, sets itself a very concrete and unveiled objective on the physical limit of the body and its capacity to resist in extreme situations of deprivation, in search of regenerative engine inherent in every apparent dead end. The set design and costumes are entirely made from waste or recycled materials in accordance with the circular economy policy of the RE49 company from which the project originated.
A spin-off of the work TOXIC GREEN, FROM GARBAGE TO STARS, was created as a site-specific study for urban spaces, following the winning of the Greening Arts call promoted by the network Intersezioni del Friuli-Venezia Giulia, with the support of Arearea dance company and the company RE49.
