Synopsis

IDENTITY 2.0

The workshop and the performance that will be created are dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasolini and to the celebration, in 2025, of the fiftieth anniversary of his death: Pasolini and his relationship with the enlarged concept of the periphery in relation to the geography of Milan and to how much his images and reflections can still reverberate in a powerful way on our present day, in our bodies, in the relationships we weave both on a personal and social level. Throughout his journey, Pasolini resemantises the very concept of the periphery, turning marginality into value, otherness into meaning: this will be the creative engine and internal provocation of the work process that will lead to a site-specific performance capable of moving and inhabiting different places between internal and external architectures. The path is divided between weekly meetings of technical training and choreographic composition, masterclasses with specific contemporary dance focuses, and monthly intensive workshop sessions in which to elaborate the physical dramaturgy that will lead to the stage. The three lines of work are strongly interconnected and all equally fundamental to the path of both the individual participant and the group, therefore, constancy and presence are required of participants at every stage. The technique classes will draw on different contemporary dance techniques to achieve objectives in the areas of: postural positioning, grounding, centre/periphery coordination, energy management, weight control and the ability to respond to different movement tasks. The masterclasses, on the other hand, will focus on floorwork and partnering. The creation work will be accompanied by a dramaturg and will include sessions of research, exploration and collective creation through guided improvisations, composition, body writing and choreography in the strict sense. We envisage a strongly physical work, based both on the stage personality of the performers and on the choral cohesion resulting from a deep listening work in the search for a common language.

The workshop will be led by:

Lara Viscuso: technique and choreography assistance
Fabrizio Calanna: technique, assistance with direction and costumes
Francesca la Stella: masterclass
Saverio Bari: research and dramaturgy
Lara Guidetti: choreography and direction
